WAN Essay Writing Competition

Who may enter
The competition is open to female students of all higher educational institutions in Nigeria.

Short Description
The WAN Essay Writing Competition is an annual writing award.

Entries must be a single non-fiction essay of 2000 to 3000 words written either as a biographical essay or a featured profile of one of the prominent female academics featured in the 2026 WAN recognition campaigns.

Essays must be written in English.

Entries must be submitted online via the WAN entry page on the Hed-Core website

Entry Fee
Entry for the 2026 competition is free of charge.

Prizes
Category 1: Secondary School Level
Category 2: Undergraduate
Category 3: Postgraduate

All winning essays will be published on the competition website and also on Hed-Core and partner websites.
